What is Dwyane Wade doing now?
Like many icons in the sports world, Wade is pivoting to broadcast. He shared with GQ Hype that he needed to keep himself busy amid retirement.
"What else are you going to do? I retired at 37. There’s no way I’m just going to sit around," he said. "I wouldn’t be fulfilled, and people would not want to be around me."
Wade's next gig will be with Amazon Prime Video, where he will become an in-game commentator and as well as using his years of expertise on the court as a studio analyst. While the gig is new for Wade, it also marks the streamer's first time airing NBA games and will start the 2025-26 season.
Amina Hussein who is the executive producer of NBA on Prime, and the company’s head of US on-air talent, praised Wade and is excited to have him on air this season.
Hussein told GQ Hype that “when we go about looking for talent, we want somebody who loves the game, is still invested in the game, who’s still passionate about it, and wants to see it grow. Dwyane is that.”
Dwyane's first show with NBA on Prime will be on Oct. 24, where he will be joined by Candace Parker, Blake Griffin, Dirk Nowitzki, Stan Van Gundy, Taylor Rooks, Udonis Haslem, Brent Barry, and Steve Nash.
