Denver Broncos star Alex Singleton is facing his toughest battle yet - testicular cancer

The 31-year-old linebacker underwent surgery for the medical condition on Friday, just 24 hours after he had nine tackles in a 10-7 win over the Las Vegas Raiders

On Monday, his wife, Sam Singleton, praised her husband for his strength and resilience through the private battle.

Sam re-shared a message originally posted by Alex on Instagram, adding a text overlay that read, "my super strong and amazing husband. I love you endlessly."

She also left a comment on the post, writing, "you're incredible! Ilysm (I love you so much)," alongside a purple heart emoji, the color traditionally associated with testicular cancer.

In his IG post, Alex opened up about his diagnosis and surgery, sharing a heartfelt message of gratitude to fans, coaching staff, medical staff, and teammates who have supported him since he got the shocking news.

"This morning, I stood before our team as a lucky man. I shared with my teammates and coaches that I underwent successful surgery on Friday for testicular cancer after being diagnosed last week," Alex wrote. "Thankfully we believe the cancer was caught early enough with a great prognosis for me and my family. While we are still awaiting some additional test results, I fully expect to return to the field in the coming weeks."

The NFL star said he was thankful for the support he's gotten from everyone so far on this journey. The Broncos star said he was hesitant about sharing such personal information, however, he hopes that his story, and the importance of early dedication, will help save lives.

His touching message instantly prompted a wave of reactions from fans who praised the linebacker for his courage in going public with the diagnosis.

"Early detection saves lives," someone else wrote.

Several players in the league also left heartfelt messages of support.

"Praying for you my brother! Love," Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Kenny Clark commented.

"Love ya brotha," Broncos defensive end Zach Allen wrote.

Broncos linebacker Nik Bonitto, cornerback Pat Surtain II, and safety Delarrin Turner-Yell were also among some of his first teammates to drop a message of support.

Alex was selected as an undrafted free agent by the Seattle Sehawks in 2015 after attending Montana State University. He later played in the Canadian Football League before signing with the Philadelphia Eagles and moving over to the Broncos. He's now the Broncos leading tackler and co-captain.

The Broncos will face the Kansas City Chiefs this week without the linebacker, although he's reportedly hoping to return as soon as he can.

The Broncos have a bye week after they take on the Chiefs.
