Chicago Sky star Angel Reese has some high hopes for her upcoming signature sneaker line. The WNBA star is comparing her shoes to Michael Jordan's wildly popular Jordans before they're released, and fans are criticizing her for making such a bold prediction.
It's all stemming from a recent interview with "Elle," where the 23-year-old LSU alum dished on her debut shoe line, the Angel Reese 1's, which drops on September 18.
"People are going to be wearing Reebok everywhere, just like how they wear Jordans everywhere," the Sky star told the outlet. "I want people to wear the Angel Reese 1s everywhere and just to be a household name, to have no limits on what I can do and what I can accomplish."

Bold comparisons to Jordans spark reactions from fans
Reese will need to hit some massive sales numbers to be fairly compared to Jordan's iconic line, but nothing is impossible. However, fans are skeptical about the bold prediction and think it's wildly unrealistic.
"The lack of self awareness to compare yourself to Jordan and not realize why his shoes are so famous and to just expect the same outcome like it’s owed to you is WILD," one person commented on X.
"I want whatever drug she’s on because there’s no way someone in the right mind would compare Angel Reese 1s to Jordan 1s, the most iconic shoes of all time," someone else wrote.
"It’s possible to have ur shoe be household but for the sake of ur already shaky rep just don’t mention Jordan. Who's ur pr manager twin," another person said.
"The fact that you just compared yourself to Jordan is just absolutely insane Just Stop It," a fourth added.
The Angel Reese 1's are turning heads before release
Others said they were excited about Reese's upcoming shoe line, which will be offered in an array of colors, including bright pink.
"Those are fire," one person commented on Instagram.
"I must have these! I’m a breast cancer survivor and I will walk in these," a second person wrote.
"INSANE!! Can’t wait to see them on court all-star," another said.
"These are lit," another added.
Reese is the second WNBA star to get a sneaker line from Reebok. Hall of Famer Rebecca Lobo was the first women's basketball star to debut a line from the brand in 1997.
While speaking to "Elle," the Sky star, who's also launching a signature apparel collection with Reebok, called her new partnership with the brand a "blessing."
"Being able to have the support that I have right now with the fans is really important to me, and I’m trying to maximize everything while I can. This is a really important moment for me right now, and I’m really excited for it to launch," said Reese. "My personality is me being unapologetically myself—that’s what the shoes are as well: unapologetic," she continued, adding that she loves the versatility of being able to wear the shoes on and off the court - which was important to her when creating the line.
"I really wanted to have a shoe that I can wear on the court, but also in the tunnel ‘fits, fashion moments, events, and big things," she added.
