Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce literally broke Instagram when they announced their engagement last month. While the garden-themed proposal is definitely on-brand for the 14-time Grammy winner, it wasn't Kelce's first thought on how to propose to her.

On the Sept. 3 episode of the New Heights podcast, which Travis cohosts with his brother Jason Kelce, the Kansas City Chiefs tight end revealed that he was actually thinking of proposing to Swift in the water. One of the podcast producers, whom Jason and Travis refer to as "Intern Brandon," shared that he recently got engaged and proposed to his partner in the water -- something he wouldn't recommend.

"My head was bobbing up in the water, holding the ring while kicking your little feet to fight the current. Don't recommend it. Travis did it on land. Much safer," Brandon said,

"I got warned, I got warned," Travis responded. "I once thought I would do it on water but you did it. You showed heart."

Jason joked, "You thought you'd do it on water. He did it in water!"

Travis proposed to Swift last month, which the couple announced in a joint Instagram post on Aug. 26.

"Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married," the caption read.

Travis got candid on how he gets "giddy" when referring to Swift as his fiancée.

"Yeah I felt that at the game, it was the first time I introduced Taylor as my fiancée to my teammates, it was pretty cool," Travis said. "I still get giddy, it's exciting times. It is still fresh. It has been so much fun hearing from everybody and seeing the internet go crazy."

He later thanked the listeners for sending their best wishes to the newly engaged couple, who began dating in the summer of 2023.

"Thank you guys for the congratulations," Travis said. "I appreciate everybody who has reached out and sent something, all the posts and excitement, and it has been really fun telling everybody who I'm going to be spending the rest of my life with."

"It has been really fun. It has been awesome," he concluded.
