Taylor Swift has dated singers, entertainers, and actors before her relationship with Travis Kelce. According to the singer, she reveals that athletes have never been on her radar and shares exactly why.
In episode four of her Disney+ docuseries The End of Era, the Grammy-winning singer tells her mom why she decided not to date an athlete.
“I've been very non-athlete because I'm not one and I've always been like, 'What would we talk about?' Taylor tells her mom, Andrea Swift.
In the conversation, she mentions that her mom was impressed by Kelce's willingness to meet her.
"So you call me up with this tone of, 'Hey, I know you're going to not react well to this, but there's a guy...’" Taylor continued with Andrea adding, "He's cute."
Taylor added with a laugh that her mom wanted her to get out of her comfort zone.
"You said something to the effect of, "You gotta start doing something different,’ ” Taylor continued.
Andrea mentioned that after doing her own research on the Kansas City Chiefs star, she called her friend to ensure he was a good guy for her daughter.
“I’m looking at the headlines and perusing around on the Internet and I see that this guy came to your show and he brought a friendship bracelet and wants to meet you,” Andrea recalled. “So I call up my resident expert on the Kansas City Chiefs, my cousin Robin, and I go, ‘Tell me about this guy named Travis Kelce.’ ”
Like Andrea, Robin was all for Kelce, and now it was just Taylor's mom's job to convince her to accept the introduction.
“She goes, ‘Oh my God, he is the nicest guy! And he really loves his mom.’ And I went, ‘Ding, ding, ding, ding,’ ” Andrea said with a laugh. “And then I said, ‘Now, how in the world am I going to get her to meet him?’"
Well, Andrea's convincing worked because Taylor and Kelce have been dating for two years, and now they are rumored to get married next summer.
