Following the release of The Life of a Showgirl, fans believe a track is about Travis Kelce's ex, Kayla Nicole.
Taylor Swift just released her 12th studio album, The Life of a Showgirl, on Oct. 3, and fans believe that there is some subtle mention of Kelce's ex, Kayla Nicole, on the track "Opalite."
“You couldn’t understand it / Why you felt alone / You were in it for real / She was in her phone / You were just a pose…” Swift sings on the track, which seemingly references a resurfaced video of the former couple that went viral recently, of the sports reporter and the NFL star.
The video has since been deleted from X, but in screenshots per Page Six, it shows the former on-and-off-again couple that dated between 2017 to 2022 disagreeing about Kayla Nicole's phone usage.
In the screenshots, The Pre-Game podcast host is holding a glass of red wine and the Kansas City Chiefs star is frustrated that she is on her phone. Kayla Nicole reacts by telling Kelce that she didn't need“to seek validation from a bunch of strangers on the internet” if “someone sometimes would pay [her] attention.”
"Oh, my God. Get off your phone. Get off your phone. … ," Kelce persists. "You’re not even drinking your wine anymore. Can we go?”
In response, Kayla Nicole just laughs, according to the outlet.
Swift didn't share that the song was about Kelce, but she did say it was somewhat inspired by the NFL star, given that his birthstone is opal.
"I had written down the word ‘opalite’ because I learned that it is actually a man-made opal," she told Capital Breakfast after sharing that it is Kelce's favorite track on the project. "Opal can be man-made just like diamonds. Travis’ birthstone is an opal, so I have always fixated on that, and I’ve always loved that stone.”
