By now, many WNBA fans, and even those who don’t often watch women’s basketball, have heard about the viral brawl that took place during a game between the Indiana Fever and the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday, June 17.
Things took a turn when Fever guard Sophie Cunningham got physical in a move that was seemingly intended to protect her teammate, Caitlin Clark. Even now, it was a viral moment that still has everyone buzzing.
On Saturday, June 28, Cunningham seemingly poked fun at the incident on TikTok. She recorded herself lip-synching to a viral audio snippet by Charli XCX.
“I think I can be b****y, but I don't know that I'm a b***h,” the audio goes.
“Depends on what team you’re on,” Cunningham joked in the caption of the video.
On the day of the scuffle, tension had been running high the entire game. It began when Clark was poked in the eye and then pushed by the Sun’s Jacy Sheldon. Seconds later, as Clark was still gathering her bearings, she was shoved to the ground by Marina Mabrey.
By the fourth quarter, Cunningham had had enough and ended up taking things into her own hands. She grabbed Sheldon by the back of her head and pulled her down, soon after getting ejected.
She has since been praised by WNBA fans across the country for standing up for Clark.
