Serena Williams has just publicly admitted to using GLP-1 medication for weight loss. The 23-time Grand Slam champion says she used a weight loss drug to help her drop 31 pounds, after being encouraged by fans for months to share what helped her transform her body.

There's no question that the tennis legend is looking impeccable these days, and we now know what her secret is.

In an interview with "Today," Williams admitted that she turned to GLP-1 weight loss medication after the birth of her second child. While she did not disclose the exact medication, she did say that she's a paid spokesperson for the healthcare company Ro, a healthcare company offering GLP-1 weight loss treatments, including Ozempic, Wegovy, and Zepbound, per the company's website

"I was on and off (the medication) and now completely on," the tennis pro said. "It was a really good decision I had to make for my life, you know, I tried everything."

Serena Williams' weight loss journey from diet and lifestyle changes

Williams said that she tried everything from running to walking "for hours" and playing professional tennis but was still struggling with her weight before jumping on the GLP-1 bandwagon. She even tried becoming a vegan and vegetarian to no avail.

Since starting the weight loss drug, Williams said she's seen improved blood sugar levels and overall health without experiencing any of the negative side effects you sometimes hear about.

Williams says she hopes going public with her decision will help normalize the use of weight loss medication so that others aren't embarrassed to try it or criticized for going the "lazy" route.

"A misconception is that it's a shortcut," Williams told the outlet. "As an athlete and as someone that has done everything, I just couldn't get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place — and believe me, I don't take shortcuts."

Fans react to Williams' body transformation: 'Doesn't even look like Serena anymore'

Fans have been prompting the tennis star to admit her use of GLP-1 medication for months.

Last month, after posting a photo on Instagram showing off her abs in a crop top and leggings during a workout, social media users flooded her comments section with questions about the methods behind her body transformation.

"While I applaud your results, I think it’s a bit disingenuous to let people believe this transformation is solely from working out. Being truthful and authentic matters — your story is powerful either way," one person commented.

"Didn’t realise weigh loss injections gave you amazing abbs," another person wrote.

"Ozempic. Doesn’t even look like Serena anymore," someone else said.

"WoW! I watched your entire pro tennis career and don't recall this level of lean," another added.
