Man slammed with backlash after snatching Kamil Majchrzak’s hat from a little boy at US Open image

On Thursday, August 28, a special moment for a young fan at the US Open was ruined in a move that has enraged social media users.

Polish tennis star Kamil Majchrzak had just defeated Karen Khachanov in an exciting five-set victory. Afterward, he stopped to greet fans in the stands and to sign autographs.

In a bizarre moment captured on live footage, Majchrzak could be seen removing his hat and signing it before attempting to hand it to an excited young boy with his hand outstretched. However, before the boy could grasp the autographed hat, a grown man standing next to him quickly intercepted it. He snatched the hat away and stuffed it into his wife’s purse.

The young boy and others around him seemed shocked by the man’s behavior.

“What are you doing?” he shouted.

With all of the activity around him, Majchrzak didn’t realize at first what had happened. However, he commented on the incident later.

“After the match, I didn’t record that my cap didn’t get to the boy,” he said, posting some pictures from the encounter on social media. He asked for help locating the boy or his parents in hopes that he could get a signed hat for him.
