Carmelo Anthony decided to keep it casual for his highly anticipated NBC Sports analyst television debut.

On Tuesday, the former NBA Hall of Famer went viral during the league's season opener between the Oklahoma City Thunder and Houston Rockets, when fans caught wind of his casual look.

The 10-time NBA All-Star showed up to his first day on the job wearing a quarter-zip top paired with dark shades, while his new colleagues stood next to him in more camera-ready looks - suits and ties.

Fans on X quickly started roasting the NBA legend, dropping memes that joked his look didn't quite match the polished vibe of Tracy McGrady, Vince Carter and Maria Taylor.

"I would emphasize him to dress professional take it seriously if not I’m sure you can get another former nba star to take the gig and money and he can go back to his couch with his comfy 'swag' clothing and be about his day," one user commented on X

"He dresses like he is on the way to shoot around. He's gotta tighten up on live TV," another quipped.

"Put on a suit bro," a third added.

"Man hasn't worn a suit since the 03 draft," someone else wrote, while another quipped, "Unprofessional."

While Anthony got plenty of criticism for his day one work attire, some fans actually praised his look.

"I respect melo for this... Don't conform for the occasion. Be yourself 24/7," one person said.

"Thinking about it tho. Why do announcers/analysts be in suits," a second wrote.

"So what? Is there a dress code for these shows? They are at an NBA game," another commented.

NBC announced in May that Anthony would be joining the network in a studio analyst role.

In a press release, the outlet shared that the NBA All-Star was thrilled about his new role.

"Watching the NBA on NBC growing up shaped my love for the game. Now, I’m thrilled to join the NBC Sports family," he said. "I’ve always used my platform to help grow the game, and I’m excited to bring fans a fresh perspective as we usher in a new era of NBA coverage and programming.”

Anthony played 19 seasons in the NBA. He spent the bulk of his career with the Denver Nuggets and New York Knicks. He was drafted third overall by the Nuggets in the 2003 NBA draft.
