Timothee Chamalet will go head to head with Leonardo DiCaprio for the Best Actor Award at the 98th Academy Awards.

The 30-year-old "Wonka" star earned his third Oscar Nomination on Thursday, Jan. 22 for his leading role in "Marty Supreme," a film inspired by the life of 1950s table tennis legend Marty Resiman, affectionately known as "The Needle."

Set in postwar Manhattan, "Marty Supreme" follows the tennis star's unlikely rise from a shoe salesman to a world class champion.

Timothee is in a high stakes battle for Best Actor

The "Dune" actor's latest Oscar nod cements his status as the youngest male actor in history to receive three Academy Award nominations. Chamelet - who's currently dating "Keeping up with the Kardashains" star Kylie Jenner - was previously nominated for "Call Me By Your Name" back in 2018 and again in 2025 for his role as Bob Dylan in "A Complete Unknown."

A win this year will be no small feat for Chamalet. Although his performance was unarguably impressive, this year's Best Actor category is stacked with talent.

He'll will have to beat out Ethan Hawke for his role in "Blue Moon," Michael B. Jordan for "Sinners," and Wagner Moura in "The Secret Agent," in addition to DiCaprio for "One Battle After Another."

So far, Chamalet has fared well with the film in the awards circuit. He picked up the same accolade at the Golden Globes earlier this month, and is now hoping to have a repeat performance.

"Marty Supreme" has landed nine Oscar nominations, including the top prize of Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Cinematography.

The 2026 Oscars will take place at the Dolby Theater in Ovation Hollywood on March 16.
