It’s been nearly ten years since Taylor Swift attended the Met Gala, and fans are growing more and more impatient as the years go by. While the songstress has never brought a partner with her to the annual event, Swifties are wondering if Travis Kelce is the key to her return.
The Costume Institute celebration will take place on Monday, May 5. If the 35-year-old does attend the star-studded event, this would make it her seventh appearance at the Met Gala. Last year, rumors swirled around the possibility that the couple would make their red carpet debut together, however, fans were quickly disappointed when Swift didn’t show up.
After the event in May 2024, outlets began reporting the reason behind her absence. At the time, People claimed that Swift opted out of the gala due to rehearsals and prep work ahead of her Eras Tour.
As of now, mere speculation is all Swifties can hold onto as there has been no confirmation — or denial — of their attendance. Despite this, fans of the “Cruel Summer” singer can’t help but manifest that this year will be the year, especially since Swift seems to have a clearer schedule now.
Between March 2023 and December 2024, Swift performed 149 shows across 51 cities. The tour lasted for 632 days over 5 continents — giving fans everywhere a chance to see the singer belt 46 songs in three and a half hours. As for Kelce's part, the Kansas City Chiefs player is coming down from a long season and tough Super Bowl loss.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to some if Swift skipped the carpet this year and took some time for herself after an extensive tour. It’s been alleged that the couple have recently been spotted in Boca Raton, Florida. Maybe the two are deciding to take a much needed vacation together — or maybe, just maybe, they are preparing for their first Met Gala together.
