Some couples split because they fall out of love. Others blame bad timing or busy schedules. But for one Sports Illustrated model and her former NFL husband, the issue hit a little… below the belt.

During a Twitch livestream with streamer Marlon Garcia on Tuesday, November 4, Haley Kalil (known online as Haleyy Baylee) opened up about her marriage to Matt Kalil and the surprisingly personal reason it didn’t work out.

At one point in the chat, Haley flopped her arm onto the table — a gesture that needed no further explanation. “You know what I’m saying?” She asked. Garcia, clearly catching her drift, nodded.

The influencer went on to explain that she’d done everything possible to fix the problem. “I was going to try it all, therapist, doctors… not even lying. Looked up like lipo-type s**t,” she said. “That’s why it’s kinda funny. My life is a comedy, and it writes itself.”

Garcia, still processing what he’d just heard, asked if that was the biggest factor in the couple calling it quits. Without hesitation, Haley nodded. “Yeah, the biggest factor.”

For those who missed how we got here, Haley and her ex go way back. They started dating after Matt was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings in 2012, when he was just breaking into the league as one of its most promising young tackles. Their relationship quickly turned serious — by July 8, 2015, they married in a small, private ceremony on the beaches of Kauaʻi, Hawaii, and renewed their vows exactly one year later in front of friends and family.

From there, life moved fast. Haley launched her modeling career, later winning Sports Illustrated’s 2018 Swim Search, while Matt signed a five-year, $55 million contract with the Carolina Panthers in 2017 after a standout run with the Vikings. But behind the scenes, their marriage began to falter. Court filings show they separated in January 2022, and on May 4, 2022, Haley officially filed for divorce in Los Angeles County, citing irreconcilable differences.

Matt has since remarried model Keilani Asmus, tying the knot at Las Vegas’s A Little White Chapel on April 13, 2024 — the couple welcomed a baby later that year.

Haley, meanwhile, has carved out a new lane as one of social media’s biggest creators, amassing nearly 16 million TikTok followers and earning a spot on TIME’s 2025 list of Top Creators.
