Lakers vet Christian Wood gets full custody of son after claiming ex 'put a hit out on him'

Former Los Angeles Lakers forward Christian Wood has been granted temporary sole custody of his young son following a volatile legal dispute that includes allegations of threats, a suspected break-in, and competing requests for court protection.

According to court filings obtained by Us Weekly, Wood, 30, was awarded full custody of his 2-year-old son, Kobe Sean Wood, along with a temporary restraining order against the child’s mother, Yasmine Lopez, 26. The judge ordered Lopez to remain at least 100 yards away from both Wood and the child while an investigation continues.

Wood’s request stemmed from a frightening incident on November 5, when he says three men attempted to force their way into his home while he was alone. In his declaration, Wood said he heard suspicious activity and encountered intruders trying to break in.

“In fear for my life, I quickly ran to obtain a firearm I keep locked in my home,” Wood told the court. He said he fired a shot toward the floor to scare them off and believed he was moments from being killed.

The men reportedly fled without taking anything, an outcome Wood described as unusual. He told the court there had been no similar incidents nearby and suggested the timing indicated someone knew his schedule. Law enforcement was contacted, and an investigation was launched.

Wood alleged Lopez may have had prior knowledge of the incident, pointing to visitation issues in the days before and a social media post he described as disturbing. He also claimed Lopez had made repeated threats against his life in the past, writing that she had said she hoped he would die and that she would tell their son he was dead.

“These threats were not isolated,” Wood stated. “They are a pattern.”

Lopez has firmly denied all allegations. In her own filing, she said she had no involvement in the attempted break-in and learned about it after the fact. She also disputed Wood’s claim of sole custody.
