Vancouver is just days away from hosting a major sporting debut. From October 8 to 13, an indoor cricket tournament called the Super 60 will bring international stars and Canadian players together for six days of quick fire matches.
The T10 format of the tournament is built for speed, with games capped at about 90 minutes and each team batting for a short stretch. This kind of setup creates constant action and makes it possible for momentum to shift quickly. For the fans it’s great because there are fewer breaks in play and a lot of chances taken by players as well as quick decisions.

Both men and women will be playing, which organizers say is great because it will help young fans see the sport as a game for everyone. They also said they hope the event will boost the sport’s profile in Canada.
Some of the best cricket players in the world will be competing. The final lineup includes Martin Guptill, Chris Lynn, Naseem Shah, Shabnim Ismail, Alex Hales, Deandra Dottin, Jason Holder, and Fatima Sana. More than 1,300 athletes from 34 countries expressed interest in the tourney. Canadian players will also get the chance to compete against the sport’s top stars, giving local crowds a chance to root for the home team.

The indoor stadium setting adds to the appeal. Weather will not disrupt play, and the venue has a history of hosting large scale concerts and championship events. For cricket, it offers a stage big enough to match the ambition behind the tournament.
Tickets are available at Super 60’s official site. Children under 15 can attend free, and organizers expect demand to be high in the lead up to opening day. Fans outside the stadium will be able to watch live coverage through the FanCode streaming platform, with additional broadcast details expected to follow.
With its combination of short matches, global stars, and Canadian representation, this cricket tournament is shaping up as one of Vancouver’s standout sporting events of the year.
