Livvy Dunne debuted a new cover shoot for Maxim’s winter edition and delivered one of her most revealing interviews yet with author John Ortved.
After years of competing under the immense pressure of elite gymnastics and securing a national championship at LSU, she now candidly discusses how those experiences have influenced a much broader creative journey. Dunne says the spotlight never intimidated her, and she freely admits she enjoys the atmosphere that comes with it. As she told Maxim, “I love the red carpet. I love the glitz and glam of it. There’s no denying that… you don’t really think a Taylor Swift that’s in the spotlight doesn’t actually enjoy it? She does.”
Yet Dunne made it clear that the allure of fame is only one part of her evolution. For the first time, she shared her interest in acting, a pursuit she had kept mostly private. She has begun reading scripts, training with an acting coach, and thinking carefully about roles that feel like a natural extension of who she is. She gravitates toward “old school” romcoms like Notting Hill, but she also sees how her athletic background offers a unique advantage. “I can do cool action things as well,” she says, emphasizing how the physical demands mirror the intensity she once brought to competition.
Her approach toward acting is rooted in habits formed on the mat. She recalls learning to “turn off my brain and just let my body do what it knows how to do,” and her acting coach reinforces that same approach, encouraging her “to not think about what you are saying” and to “really feel what you are doing.”

Dunne continues to work with a mindset coach every day because “It is a lot mentally, getting your body to do what it needs to do every day,” and she takes to heart the reminder that “you are more than your sport.”

As she blends modeling, branding, and her early steps toward acting, her vision remains clear. “I just want to create something big,” she says, and she brings to that ambition the same competitiveness that fueled every step of her rise.
