Freddie Freeman has a connection to Bachelor Nation!
The Los Angeles Dodgers' first baseman's aunt, Carol Freeman-Branstein, is a contestant on this season of The Golden Bachelor. Carol also works for the World Series winner full-time as his manager.
Season two of the series premiered on Wednesday, Sept. 24, with former NFL star Mel Owens as this season's bachelor.
“Carol has a life full of love and hard work, but she’s missing one important piece — a man by her side," the bio on ABC's site reads. "For Carol, this journey is all about finding her forever, so here’s to hoping she can find that meaningful connection with Mel.”
Freddie has not yet spoken out about his aunt's involvement on the show.
Mel Owens apologizes for insensitive comments
Owens went viral for the ageist comments he made about women as well as the looks he preferred. He said that he prefers dating women between the ages of 45 and 60 and that he would "cut" women who were "60 or over" on In the Trenches back in July. He added that he wants to “try to stay away from the artificial hips and the wigs, you know, that kind of stuff” when it comes to women he prefers to date.
However, the former Los Angeles Rams linebacker owned up to his mistakes on the premiere episode.
"I messed up," Owens said on Wednesday night's episode. "I was wrong. I replay it in my head a lot. I have regrets and I'm sorry for all the things I said in the podcast."
He continued, "I know what a lot of people are thinking about me, but that's not who I am."
As far as what Owens wants in a future wife, he shared via a press release: “As the Golden Bachelor, he’s eager to meet someone who shares this vision and finally find that perfect teammate he’s been waiting for in his golden years."
The Golden Bachelor airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
