Offset has taken a major financial step amid his still-unfinished divorce from Cardi B, paying down a seven-figure federal tax bill as public tension around the split continues to unfold.
According to newly released filings obtained by Us Weekly, the IRS has lifted a lien showing that the rapper satisfied a tax obligation totaling roughly $1.57 million related to his 2022 earnings. The lien, which was initially filed in April 2024, was officially released on December 26, 2025, significantly reducing Offset’s outstanding balance with the federal government.

That payment, however, does not fully clear his tax issues. Offset is still facing an additional federal lien for approximately $486,000 tied to his 2023 taxes, as well as a separate state-level claim from Georgia. The Georgia Department of Revenue filed a lien in March 2025, alleging that Offset owes close to $292,000 for the 2021 tax year. That amount grew substantially over time due to interest, penalties, and collection fees.
The financial developments come amid a divorce that has dragged on long after Cardi B and Offset split in 2024. Cardi addressed the situation publicly in September 2025, alleging that unresolved tax matters were a key reason the marriage had not been legally finalized.
“The only reason why I’m still married is because somebody wants me to pay for their taxes,” Cardi said during a candid moment with fans. She also claimed that she was being pressured to give up property and millions of dollars in order to move forward with the divorce.

The former couple’s personal lives have continued to move in different directions. Cardi, who shares three children with Offset—Kulture, Wave, and Blossom—also has a child with NFL wide receiver Stefon Diggs.
