Adam Gray, a collectible content creator and Editor in Chief of Basketball Card Fanatic, has decided to finally answer the question that all sports card collectors have been seeking the answer to: What are the top sports cards? While this question can become extremely difficult to answer due to different time periods and types of collectors, Adam decided to narrow it down to a "25 in 25". Hobbyists will determine the top 25 cards post-2000, and rank them from 1 (most iconic) to 25 (lesser iconic).
Adam starts the survey by defining what iconic means - being widely recognized and admired, often symbolizing a particular era, group, or concept. It signifies a person or thing that is influential, representative, and revered. It is important to note that some cards may be a variation or a parallel, in which then they are grouped together and the ranking will essentially contain all of those cards.
Different cards highlighted throughout the survey are Mike Trout’s Bowman Chrome, LeBron’s Triple Logoman, Tom Brady’s Contender’s Rookie Ticket, and even the newly surfaced Paul Skenes MLB Debut Patch card.
On the widely popular podcast, Sports Cards Nonsense, Gray mentioned that one of the key aspects of this survey was not having bias and coming to a conclusion of what collectors and hobbyists can collectively agree upon. He also stated that we will be able to look back at this moment in the sports card industry and definitively say which cards were the most iconic from 2000-2025. The survey can take only 10-15 minutes to complete, or it can serve as a thought provoking exercise that leads to conversation and in-depth analysis of the top 25 ranking.
The survey is open to take until June 10th and the results will be released around the beginning of July, where one card will be released from 25 to 1. The link to the survey will be below as card collectors everywhere will finally have the answer to one of the most asked questions in the hobby.
