The Sunday night game of the NFL Divisional Round Playoffs weekend showcases a quarterback battle for the ages -- significantly different ages.

Well-seasoned veteran and NFL MVP award frontrunner Matthew Stafford leads the No. 5 Los Angeles Rams into the Midwest to face rising sophomore Caleb Williams and the No. 2 Chicago Bears.

Early odds for Divisional Playoffs round heavily favor the former Super Bowl winner Stafford, but how are these lines holding up heading into the weekend's games -- especially knowing that we may get true Chicago winter weather Sunday? Oh, and Stafford goes into the game with an injury to his throwing hand.

Rams vs. Bears predictions and betting angles

More importantly than analyzing betting trends, which are often deployed in betting punditry universally without context, bettors should consider what angles can affect the event action and follow a betting trail from that.

Here's how Rams vs. Bears bettors should break this game down.

Is Matthew Stafford's hand injury worrisome?

Not so far, though the sprain in his right (throwing) index finger may act up in the expected frigid conditions, which many theorize will exacerbate a bad reputation:

How will Matthew Stafford an outdoor, cold-weather playoff game?

Want to see the trend of all trends that many will lean on too strongly?

Even if Stafford struggles, the Rams are not some team that relies solely on his performance.

Of course, we need to take the most recent sample size with similar roster builds, coaching staffs, and overall team makeup into account.

Stafford split 1-1 in his two most recent sub-40-degree games, which both happened last year:

  • In Week 16 (23 degrees), the Rams beat the Jets 19-9, despite Stafford throwing just 110 yards, 1:1 TD:INT, and an 83.2 rating.
  • In the Divisional Round (34 degrees), however, the Rams fell to the Eagles 28-22, even as Stafford went off for 324 yards and a 2:0 TD:INT.

It'll be easy to point to last season's cold-weather playoff exit as a knee-jerk reason to bet against the Rams.

Of course, the Rams could just as easily lean on short-range targets for elite sophomore Puka Nacua and Davante Adams (who wasn't with the Rams in 2024, by the way) and their 1-2 backfield punch of Kyren Williams and the more involved 2025 carrier Blake Corum -- who of course both went to cold-weather schools in Notre Dame and Michigan, respectively.

So while weather could factor in, especially if wind chills dip toward 0 degree Fahrenheit, it should not drive the narrative ship.

With a stellar run game and the new presence of Adams in the playoffs, these Rams are built better than previous versions to account for any Stafford cold-weather downturn that's not catastrophic.

Ground games will be busy on both sides

Per Pro Football Focus, the Rams are the No. 1 run-blocking offense. The Bears rank third.

The Williams-Corum duo will be met on the other side by D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangi, though the Rams have a significant advantage in run defense. Still, both backs are capable receivers and could have their say through the air.

WR-CB matchups favor the wide receivers

While the Rams rate well in general pass coverage, the cornerbacks can be worked around, especially with a trio as talented as DJ Moore-Rome Odunze-Luther Burden III under a Ben Johnson scheme.

Meanwhile, the Bears' shortcomings in pass defense could be at least partially neutralized by Stafford's hand troubles and the cold.

Rams vs. Bears spread bet (ATS)

Bears +4 (-110) • Caesars Sportsbook

Caleb Williams at home in likely cold and potentially wintry-precipitation weather screams that they'll be in control.

This isn't primarily driven by Stafford's cold-weather history, either. It's that the Bears' playmaker is stepping up, extending plays, and relying on his deep group of pass-catchers in an offensive system built for success.

I'm not ready to cement a Bears win, but this one will go down to a field goal, and this spread feels like a warm hot chocolate during a freezing-cold night game.

Rams vs. Bears bet on the Over/Under total

Under 48.5 (-110) • Every featured operator

This is the commonly accepted price, so no advantage when sportsbook shopping.

Still, the cold weather and likelihood that run games can take control should keep this one on the lower end.

Rams vs. Bears moneyline bet to win

LEAN: Bears (+170) • theScore Bet

This price hovers around similar territory across every book, with a bet via the former ESPN Bet app representing the best return on investment.

The Rams typically sit at (-200) or worse, so back the home team on this lean if you can have a dice roll bet.

Rams vs. Bears betting trends data

Again, these should not be considered gospel but can help inform betting decisions on the fringes. Stats include postseason games.

  • ATS record 2025: Rams 12-6 • Bears 11-7
  • Over/Under record 2025: Rams 11-7 • Bears 9-8-1
