One of the biggest recent rivalries in the NFC renews in the late-afternoon featured Sunday game of the NFC Wild Card Playoffs.
The sixth-seeded San Francisco 49ers (12-5) visit the No. 3 Philadelphia Eagles (11--6) in a clash between the last two NFC winners, with the defending Super Bowl champions sandwiching the Niners in 2022, when Philly defeated San Francisco, and 2024.
Two high-profile offensive showdowns take center stage as the quarterbacks (Jalen Hurts vs. Brock Purdy) and running backs (Christian McCaffrey vs. Saquon Barkley) will dictate much of this game.
Getting the details on the fringes correct will be the key to placing winning wagers, though, especially for a game in which the winner could run the table, given each squad's experience and talent.
Can the Eagles continue their question for a second straight Lombardi trophy? Will the 49ers compete for that hardware in their own home stadium?!
How should fans approach this highly anticipated matchup?

49ers vs. Eagles predictions and betting angles
More importantly than analyzing betting trends, which are often deployed in betting punditry universally without context, bettors should consider what angles can affect the event action and follow a betting trail from that.
Here's how Eagles-49ers bettors should break this game down.
Key offensive linemen's status could decide this game
Trent Williams, the Niners' future Hall of Fame left tackle is still nursing a hamstring injury that kept him out of the No. 1 seed-deciding Week 18 loss to the Seahawks. He didn't practice Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Eagles tackle Lane Johnson (foot lisfranc sprain) has returned to practice and could return. The Eagles have a career record of 110-57-1 (.658) with Johnson in their lineup, compared to 18-27 (.400) without him, per StatMuse.
Brock Purdy gets his first real shot at Eagles in NFC Championship Game
Purdy suffered an elbow injury early in their previous meeting, and the Niners had to rely on Josh Johnson pulling emergency duty under center.
Since returning from a turf toe absence, Mr. Irrelevant of the 2022 NFL Draft has averaged 225.9 passing yards, a whopping 70.6 completion percentage, and 2.3 touchdown tosses per game while running a sturdy 49ers offense.
With George Kittle (ankle) likely active to complement Christian McCaffrey, the underrated Jauan Jennings, and the rest of this offense, Purdy will have his full disposal of receivers.
Will Eagles offense step up with consistency?
Much criticism has haunted Philly's offense under new coordinator Kevin Patullo, with head coach Nick Sirianni doing little to quell the controversy.
Jalen Hurts has looked more than mortal at times, despite the presence of Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert.
Luckily, working in his favor...
Can battered 49ers defense survive?
Having lost key defensive players like linebacker Fred Warner (broken ankle) and pass rusher Nick Bosa (torn ACL), among many other key names, the Niners' defense will be the most crucial aspect of this game to track. If they're containing Hurts, Barkley, and co., they have a shot.

49ers vs. Eagles bet on the Over/Under total
Over 44.5 (-105) • FanDuel Sportsbook
With the Niners at full strength and the Eagles looming under bad press lately, let's grab this low bar to clear with less than -110 juice.
San Francisco should find room to carve out three touchdowns against the Eagles' middle-of-the-field defense with their myriad of matchup problems created by Kittle, CMC, and Jennings.
The Eagles should also cure their offensive woes against this San Francisco defense that will need to bend without breaking.
49ers vs. Eagles spread bet (ATS)
49ers +4.5 (-105) • Fanatics Sportsbook
This marks the friendliest odds across a near universal +4.5 spread at our notable sportsbooks.
We're being handed more than a field goal's worth of points in this more evenly matched affair.
49ers vs. Eagles moneyline bet to win
49ers (+190) • Fanatics / bet365 Sportsbook
While this line could become longer should Williams be listed as OUT, this remains a solid price if you have discretionary budget for a full-on upset.
Despite their experience, the Eagles have exploitable flaws and tilt the advantage in San Francisco's direction for coaching.
A whole game of a healthy Purdy could be the difference.
49ers vs. Eagles betting trends data
Again, these should not be considered gospel but can help inform betting decisions on the fringes.
- ATS record 2025: 49ers 10-6-1 • Eagles 10-7
- Over/Under record 2025: 49ers 10-6-1 • Eagles 7-10
