The stars will be out come the 2026 Academy Awards, with luminaries far and wide set to speck the Dolby Theatre on March 15.

The usual suspects will be on hand. Leonardo DiCaprio, Benicio Del Toro, Kate Hudson and Teyana Taylor are all expected to compete for prizes when awards are officially read out.

Also set to be included in the spectacle are a handful of sports films. Quiet as it is kept, sports flicks proved popular among fans and critics alike in 2025. With two fielding multiple Academy Award nominations and another featuring an actress with clear ties to the gridiron, the festivities could prove notable for sports fans, too.

With that, here's what you need to know about the sports films nominated for Academy Awards in 2026 -- including how to watch them.

Which movies with sports ties are nominated for Academy Awards

Sports films were all the rage when the 2026 Academy Awards nominations were announced, with a pair of them earning a litany of nominations.

"F1", a fictional look at a Formula One rivalry between Sonny Hayes (played by Brad Pitt) and Ruben Cervantes (played by Javier Bardem) was one of the darlings of the event, landing four nominations, including one for Best Picture.

"Marty Supreme", the Josh Safdie-directed biopic loosely based on American table tennis standout Marty Reisman, was even more prolific. The picture, which featured an ensemble cast spearheaded by Timothee Chalamet, picked up nine nominations at this year's Oscars. Chalamet's performance earned praise, resulting in a Best Actor nomination, while Safdie and his crew will compete for the title of Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay.

Rounding out the list of sports-related flicks that drew Oscar swoons is "Sinners." The Ryan Coogler-led horror film led the way with a record 16 nominations at the Academy Awards. "Sinners" is not a sports movie, although Coogler and star man Michael B. Jordan did link up for "Creed", a spin-off of the "Rocky" franchise.

It does, however, feature Hailee Steinfeld, the wife of Bills quarterback Josh Allen.

Where to stream  'F1'

"F1" is available to purchase on Prime Video. Cord-cutters can also find the film on Apple TV, which offers a seven-day free trial to new users.

Where to watch Marty Supreme

Marty Supreme can be pre-ordered on Prime Video, although viewers will have to shell out $24.99 to do so. The film can't be streamed on any platforms as of Jan. 22. But it still is available to watch in theaters.

Where to watch Sinners

As previously mentioned, Sinners is not a sports film. But Steinfeld's presence could lead sports fans -- particularly, Bills fans -- to seek out the movie.

It is the most-readily available of the three films. Prime Video users can watch the film on its service, as can HBO Max subscribers. Sinners also is available to watch on Hulu, DirecTV, Sling TV and Plex, among other streaming platforms.
