Joseph Parker has acted like a fighting champion, taking on all comers, despite holding interim gold. Fabio Wardley has been climbing up the ladder at heavyweight. Both will face off in a massive heavyweight fight at The O2 Arena on October 25.
Parker (36-3) is a former WBO heavyweight champion. After losing gold against Anthony Joshua in 2018, Parker has gone 12-2 and is on a six-fight win streak. The New Zealand-born fighter was supposed to face then-IBF heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois in February, but the latter backed out days before the fight.
The interim WBO champion is close to facing Oleksandr Usyk for undisputed gold. Until then, he will look to prove he's the rightful top contender on fight night.
“We could have sat and waited for Usyk, when he is ready or not injured, but we as fighters are showing that we will fight anyone at any time,” Parker said. “I think this is going to be a great fight.

“I know Wardley is determined and says he has ticked all the boxes and got the rounds in that he needs to have a big fight like this. But fighting someone like myself is very different from fighting everyone else he has fought.”
Wardley (19-0) is a former English, British, and Commonwealth heavyweight champion. The Ipswich-born fighter beat Justis Huni in June for the interim WBA title. He’s won all but one fight via knockout.
Facing his toughest competition to date, the 30-year-old is ready to show he should be fighting for gold.
“People maybe still have reservations and question marks, so October 25th is where I get to wipe that all clean by beating Joseph Parker and announcing really and truly that I am shoulder to shoulder with those kind of guys,” Wardley said.
