Jessica Pegula is into her first Australian Open semi-final with a straight sets thrashing of Amanda Anisimova.

The sixth seed blitzed the first set and encountered some resistance in the second but eventually won 6-2 7-6(1) in one hour, 37 minutes at Rod Laver Arena.

Anisimova - a finalist at Wimbledon and US Open 2025 - was the slight favourite in the match but she had no answers for Pegula's consistency throughout the contest.

Pegula will now meet Wimbledon 2022 champion Elena Rybakina in the semis - a player she has 3-3 record against.

After destroying Australian Open 2025 champion Madison Keys in the fourth round, Pegula continued her momentum immediately in the first set.

She broke Anisimova to love in the opening game and made her compatriot fight off another break point in the third game.

Pegula held her own serve effortlessly and eventually secured the double break to go 4-1 up.

The high level of tennis continued for the sixth seed as she closed out the set on serve 6-2.

Anisimova came out with renewed focus in the second set, saving three breaks to hold her opening service game.

Games remained on serve until the eighth game of the set where Anisimova made her move to break Pegula.

But Pegula prevented Anisimova from serving out the set at 5-3 by breaking back and returning games back to serve.

Anisimova served two of her seven double faults in a service game which allowed Pegula to serve for the match at 6-5.

But Anisimova showed great fighting qualities to strike back and force the second set into a tiebreaker.

However, the resistance broke down in the tiebreaker with Pegula running away with it 7-1.

Pegula is now into her first major semi-final that isn't at the US Open, having only reached the quarters of the three other slams previously.
