Iga Swiatek has opened up on recent difficulties she has dealt with in the wake of exiting the 2025 US Open at the quarter-final stage.
The world no. 2 suffered a 6-4 6-3 defeat to home favourite Amanda Anisimova on Wednesday (September 3) in front of a jubilant crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Anisimova's victory came as a massive surprise to tennis fans as the American failed to win a single game in her humiliating loss to Swiatek in the Wimbledon final just under two months ago.
Also, Swiatek followed up her win at SW19 with a first Cincinnati Masters title last month, making her the favourite among many to go all the way at Flushing Meadows this year.
However, the 2022 US Open winner often appeared frustrated during her quarter-final loss and could not adapt to her opponent's aggressive style.
After exiting the court following her loss, the Pole was seen engaging in a seemingly heated conversation with her coach Wim Fissette.

The Pole was then involved in a cold exchange with a reporter in her post-match press conference as she shut down suggestions that she required a mental break from tennis.

Swiatek reveals difficulties throughout 2025 US Open
Hours after losing to Anisimova, Swiatek reflected on her tournament overall and touched on obstacles she faced over the past couple of weeks in New York.
"This time US Open was challenging for me and my team. Playing matches without practicing on days off, managing foot issue, pushing through a lot," the six-time major winner said on Instagram.
"We made it to the quarterfinals with a lot on our plate and I’m pretty proud of what I did in these circumstances," the 24-year-old added.
Swiatek went on to state that she is also pleased with the experiences she has learned from this year's US Open.
With the North American hard court season now over for the world's second ranked player, she will switch her focus to the upcoming Asian leg of the WTA Tour circuit.
As for Anisimova, she is into her first semi-final at Flushing Meadows, and will take on four-time major winner Naomi Osaka for a spot in the women's singles final.
