Amanda Anisimova gained revenge for her 6-0 6-0 loss to Iga Swiatek in the Wimbledon final by beating the six-time grand slam champion to reach the semi-finals of the US Open.
Anisimova suffered a double bagel on the most prestigious stage in tennis in July as Swiatek triumphed at the grass court major for the first time.
But it was a different story for the American at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Wednesday as she produced a superb performance to surge into the last four in New York.
Anisimova prevailed 6-4 6-3 to set up a semi-final clash with either Karolina Muchova or Naomi Osaka, displaying tremendous resilience to bounce back from the ignominy of her humbling Wimbledon loss.
Anisimova hails 'really special' revenge
It looked as if Anisimova would be in for another struggle against Swiatek when she dropped serve in the first game of the match.
However, she quickly broke back in the next game and took the first set when Swiatek fired a forehand long.

Swiatek again seized the early initiative in the second set as the Pole took a 2-0 lead, only for Anisimova to recover once more by reeling off six of the next seven games, a fortuitous net cord sealing victory as she claimed her third match point.
Anisimova sent down 23 winners in a remarkably assured display, one which lifted the weight of her Wimbledon nightmare off her shoulders.
"To come back from Wimbledon like that is really special to me," Anisimova said on court after her win.
"I worked so hard to try and turn around from that. Today proved everything for me. I can do it. This is really special."
