Novak Djokovic vs. Dan Evans final score, Wimbledon result: Ruthless display from seven-time champion image

WIMBLEDON, LONDON — Any chance of a fairytale win for British star Dan Evans was put to bed by a ruthless Novak Djokovic as he breezed into the third round of Wimbledon.

The 38-year-old, chasing a record eighth title at SW19, recorded a 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 to secure his 99th Wimbledon win.

Evans, world No.154, was seeking to reach the third round of the tournament for the fourth time in his career, but was second best in every aspect of the match as he faced a barrage of big serves and deadly winners from Djokovic.

Djokovic had beaten Alexandre Muller 6-1, 6-7(7), 6-2, 6-2 in his opening match but twice called for the doctor during the third set with suggestions he was struggling with a stomach bug.

But there was no signs of any issues today as his quest for a record 25th grand slam now sees him come up against fellow Serb Miomir Kecmanovic on Saturday.

*denotes on serve

Djokovic* 6-3, 6-2 6-0 Evans - Djokovic wins third set and the match!

A rare double fault from Djokovic gives Evans hope, 15-15. The world No.6 then misses an easy forehand, 15-30. A net cord doesn't fall too kindly for Djokovic and his return goes wide, 15-40. A big chance for Evans here. Djokovic soaks up the pressure with an ace right down the middle and then hits a forehand back across Evans' left who had already committed to going right. Match point comes along and Evans hits a forehand way long. Ruthless from the seven-time Wimbledon champ.

Djokovic 6-3, 6-2 5-0 Evans*

Evans crashes an ace serve to get to 30-15. Djokovic hits a tweener from the baseline (when he seemingly didn't need to!) but it goes just out of play, 40-15. Djokovic gets level with some neat volleys at the net. He breaks again courtesy of an error from Evans and is now one game away from the third round.

Djokovic* 6-3, 6-2 4-0 Evans

Djokovic is in a hurry to wrap things up now. He sees out the game with another ace. Djokovic then

Djokovic 6-3, 6-2 3-0 Evans*

Evans gets to 30-15 and the crowd are cheering every point as if it's match point! He wins the next as Djokovic hits a forehand too long. That cheer is followed by a groan as a backhand winner down the line from Djokovic leaves him no chance. He has chances to close the game out in a long rally but Djokovic just isn't making enough errors to impact the points. The Serb hits back-to-back return winners before nailing a brutal forehand into space.

Djokovic* 6-3, 6-2 2-0 Evans

Evans is still giving it his all but he's simply being out played. Djokovic holds to love.

Djokovic 6-3, 6-2 1-0 Evans*

Djokovic continues to pepper him with forehand winners. But it's a forehand volley from a tight angle that steals the show to draw up break point and it's heading in a bad way for Evans now.

Djokovic* 6-3, 6-2 Evans - Djokovic wins the second set!

More points, more aces... more sets? The serving masterclass continues as he races to 40-0. An ace wraps it up and Djokovic has hardly broken a sweat in this set.

Djokovic 6-3, 5-2 Evans*

The ball hangs in the air for an age as it's inevitably greeted by Djokovic's strings to smash it past Evans, 15-15. A neat volley is followed up with a 121mph ace to get Evans to 40-15 though and gets an important hold to make Djokovic serve for the second set.

Djokovic* 6-3, 5-1 Evans

We're getting to blink and you miss it stage now as Djokovic holds to love with Evans hardly having a shot.

Djokovic 6-3, 4-1 Evans*

At 0-30 it feels like Djokovic is just starting to turn it up a notch. He then rattles a return off the serve straight past his opponent to bring up three break points. Evans sends a forehand beyond the baseline and it's not looking good for the British player right now.

Djokovic* 6-3, 3-1 Evans

Evans wins the first point after a long rally but he can't answer much else in this game as Djokovic relentlessly fires into his side of the court.

Djokovic 6-3, 2-1 Evans*

He plays that beautiful one-handed backhand again, this time down the line to great applause from the crowd. But Djokovic is so composed, still, while Evans is frantically running left to right and that leads to 15-40. The shouts of "come on Dan!" fall on deaf ears as he comes to the net too quickly and volleys wide.

Djokovic* 6-3, 1-1 Evans

Evans doesn't get a sniff in the opening two points but then hits a Federer-esque backhand winner across court out of nowhere to win the point! But it's to little avail as Djokovic gets a comfortable hold in the end.

Djokovic 6-3, 0-1 Evans*

A couple of errors from Evans gets Djokovic to 15-30 but he responds with a lovely backhand volley into space, 30-30. He does the same again, this time to Djokovic's left, 40-30. Djokovic then sends his backhand just wide.

Djokovic* 6-3 Evans - Djokovic wins first set!

Evans has no reply to two huge Djokovic serves, the second clocking 118mph. At 40-0 he reels off his seventh ace of the match to claim the first set.

Djokovic 5-3 Evans*

It's 0-30 as Evans' backhand at the net can't find a way over. His next volley at the net is much more aggressive though and proves decisive, 15-30. Djokovic has the opportunity to break again as Evans' athletic volley from behind goes just wide. But Evans finds some added venom in his forehand to force last year's finalist into more mistakes.  But Djokovic is ensuring his forehand winners dictate this match and it eventually sees him break!

Djokovic* 4-3 Evans

Djokovic isn't letting up with his serve, this time one goes on the outside and Evans can't do a thing about it, 30-15. The longest rally of the match ends with Djokovic attempting a lob and Evans smashing the return into the net, 40-15. Djokovic gets the hold.

Djokovic 3-3 Evans*

Djokovic takes advantage of a double fault to get three break points. Djokovic looks to the sky in frustration as his first opportunity goes again, a forehand overhit. The second goes by, this time Evans showing great net play with a controlled volley. Djokovic then hits a backhand into the net. Evans is living dangerously but this will be so frustrating for his opponent to not close the game out. Two huge serves later and he holds serve.

Djokovic* 3-2 Evans

Only to be brutally met with a frustrated Djokovic drilling an ace at him. Evans gets a point back with a controlled volley, 30-15. But Djokovic soon goes onto hold.

Djokovic 2-2 Evans*

Evans has Djokovic on his toes and running back and forth on the base line before an overhead smash down the middle gets him to 30-15. Evans is patiently trying to lure him in with his sliced backhands but after a couple of those, Djokovic brutally smashes a winner into the corner, 30-30. An ace puts him a point away but Djokovic again finds the corner with a powerful forehand. Djokovic soon has break point as Evans' forehand goes wide but the world No.6 can't make the most of it. Mistakes from Djokovic mean he can't convert on his second, third and fourth break point opportunities and eventually it's Evans who hits a delightful one-handed backhand down the line to hold. Brilliant resilience.

Djokovic* 2-1 Evans

Despite an early double fault, Djokovic gets control of the game with two more aces and a sweet volley at the net that has enough back spin on it to stay out of Evans' reach.

Djokovic 1-1 Evans*

Whatever Djokovic can do, Evans can do it too! Back-to-back aces for the Brit. Evans then hits a forehand long before Djokovic finds the net with a simple forehand, 40-15. Evans is up and running as Djokovic gets the timing of a forehand shot wrong.

Djokovic* 1-0 Evans

Djokovic gets the first point of the match with an ace. Evans can't return the next two serves either and then the Serb hits a nice volley at the net. What more do you expect from a seven-time Wimbledon champion?

1:32 p.m. BST: Both players arrive on court to a warm reception from the crowd. The sun is shining but luckily for the players it isn't as hot as the opening two days where temperatures reached 32c. We'll be getting underway very shortly.

1:20 p.m. BST: Djokovic knows playing against a British player is "never easy" and believes his opponent's current ranking of 154 isn't doing him justice right now.

"He's a super talented player and a great competitor. Always backs himself up on the court, believes in himself," he said.

"Playing obviously against a Brit in Britain, it's never easy. I have to be ready for a great battle. I haven't played him in a long time. The only time we played was on clay actually. He beat me in Monte-Carlo.

"He uses his slice quite a lot. I think that favors grass courts because the ball stays low. He can serve and volley. He chips the ball, comes in, mixes up the pace. He's really a tricky opponent to play against. You don't want to have him in your draw really in the early rounds.

"Look, it's a good test. It's a good test for both of us. I think he's been picking his form up, as well. I think his rankings are not doing justice at the moment. He deserves to be ranked higher."

1 p.m. BST: Djokovic vs. Evans is the first of three huge games on Centre Court today, here's how the rest of the day is shaping up:

Daniel Evans (GBR) vs. Novak Djokovic (SRB) [6]
Iga Swiatek (POL) [8] vs. Caty McNally (USA)
Jannik Sinner (ITA) [1]  vs. Aleksandar Vukic (AUS)

12:45 p.m BST: Should Evans win today he will match his 2016, 2019 and 2021 feats of reaching the third round and the 35-year-old is certainly excited about playing Djokovic on Centre Court, too.

"Just to get a chance to play him, I've played him before and it would be really nice to play... Novak," he said. "I think he won't mind me saying, is at the latter end of his career, and I'd really go out there and give it a good go.

"Because it's here, it's really special for it to be in England against the greatest of all time."

12:15 p.m. BST: Hello, and welcome to day four of Wimbledon 2025 where Novak Djokovic continues his quest for an incredible eighth title at SW19.

Standing in his way today is world No.154 Dan Evans and the thousands of fans inside Centre Court cheering on their British star.
