Amanda Anisimova was able to breathe a huge sigh of relief in Beijing on Sunday (October 5) after a frustrating past few months.
The American beat Linda Noskova 6-0 2-6 6-2 in the final of the China Open to triumph in her first tournament since suffering Grand Slam heartbreak.
Recently, the 24-year-old lost in the final at both Wimbledon and the US Open, with the former defeat being particularly painful as she did not win a single game against Iga Swiatek in that contest.
Despite fairing much better against Aryna Sabalenka in the final at Flushing Meadows last month, Anisimova still appeared to be lacking the necessary ruthlessness to win a big title at this current moment.
Going into Sunday's final, she had lost four of her last five finals, so there may have been some nerves before taking on Noskova, despite the Czech being the clear underdog.
There was also concerns over the American's fitness heading into the tournament, as an ankle issue caused her to pull out of the Korea Open.

Anisimova was able to show she can now respond well to adversity, as after a flawless opening set in Beijing, Noskova responded strongly by taking the second set and then had a break point at the start of the decider.
However, the American was able to hold her serve and landed the decisive breaks in the sixth and eighth games to secure her second WTA Masters 1000 title.
A victory to savor 🏆

The world no. 4's debut 1000 title win came back in February this year at the Qatar Open, when she overcame Jelena Ostapenko in Doha.
Following her victory, the 24-year-old reflected on what the win meant to her and her team after the recent difficulties she had endured.
"I’ve had the best time here. To my team, wow, what a two weeks it’s been. We’ve had a lot of challenges and despite that, we also still have so much fun and we work very hard," she said in the post-match presentation.
"It’s crazy that we made it this far and to get the win today has been really special. Thank you for sharing that with me, you guys are the best. I’m excited for a lot more and hopefully we can keep going."
With four career titles to her name now, Anisimova appears to be fulfilling her potential and making a case to be viewed as one of the best players on the WTA Tour.
The American will be back on the court very soon, as she is scheduled to play her opening match at the Wuhan Open against Jessica Bouzas Meneiro on Wednesday (October 8).
