Louis Rees-Zammit has become the latest victim of the injury spell cursing the Bristol Bears, after he injured his foot against Saracens last week.
Louis Rees-Zammit injury update
The Wales international limped off the pitch after being tackled during the Gallagher PREM fixture on Saturday, and in an injury update the Bristol Bears confirmed that they hope that Rees-Zammit will only be off the pitch for a few weeks.
However, despite the relative minority of his injury, this time off casts doubts about his ability to participate in the Autumn Nations Series for Wales. The 24 year old has not been able to represent his country since his move to America’s NFL (National Football League) in 2024.
Wales are set to face Argentina, Japan, All Blacks and South Africa in the upcoming set of Test matches, and after a lacklustre 2024/25 season would benefit from an injection of Rees-Zammit’s speed and try scoring ability.
Louis Rees-Zammit, who is nicknamed Rees-Lightening due to his explosive speed, is one of an increasingly long list of recent Bristol Bears injuries.
Bristol Bears growing injury list
Joe Jenkins, AJ MacGinty, Harry Randall, Gabriel Ibitoye, James Williams, Noah Heward and Rich Lane are the other Bears who make up the current - extensive - injury list. Jenkins, MacGinty Randall and Ibitoye have all gone under the knife with their injuries.
The Bristol Bear’s injury update outlining Rees-Zammit’s swift anticipated recovery was far less hopeful for Joe Jenkins, who was confirmed as unable to play until 2016 after he suffered a proximal hamstring rupture just 19 minutes into the Saracens game last Saturday.
Despite their growing injury list, the Bears will be attempting to put their best foot forward as they host the Exeter Chiefs at Ashton Gate Stadium tomorrow, Saturday 11, as part of the PREM Derby Weekend.
