After a long standoff, the Commanders and Terry McLaurin have finally agreed to a deal.
The veteran wide receiver, who was drafted by Washington in 2019, agreed to a contract extension that will keep him with the team moving forward, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports.
The news ends one of the most notable hold-ins of the summer, as McLaurin returns to a Commanders team that made the NFC Championship Game last year.

The Commanders are signing McLaurin to a three-year deal worth up to $96 million overall. It has a base value of $87 million over the three years and includes $44 million in guaranteed money. He will get an additional $6 million guaranteed in April 2027. The deals also includes a $30 million signing bonus, and incentives based on yards, catches, touchdowns, Pro Bowls and the Commanders making the playoffs.
This will be McLaurin's third contract with Washington, following his four-year rookie deal from 2019-2022 and his three-year, $68 million deal that was set to expire after this season.

Entering the offseason, McLaurin made it clear he wanted a new deal, but it took a while to get done. Commanders general manager Adam Peters maintained before training camp that the organization wanted to keep McLaurin long-term.
"First, without a doubt, I think everybody in this building values Terry very much," Peters said. "We knew that coming in and we know that even more after spending a year with him. ... We'll do whatever we can to get a deal done."
However, McLaurin officially held out of the start of training camp and expressed that he was disappointed with where talks stood in the middle of July.
"Everything that has transpired up to this point has been disappointing and frustrating," he said, via JP Finlay. "Obviously, I understand everything's a business. But at the same time, I want to put myself in a position where I'm valued, I feel appreciated and things like that. Unfortunately, that hasn't transpired the way I want it to."
Now, McLaurin gets his wish with a new deal to remain in Washington, as the Commanders look to build off a strong 2024.

Terry McLaurin was born in September of 1995, so he will turn 30 during the 2025 season. He was an older draft prospect, as he was 24 for most of his rookie contract, but he is still firmly in his prime at the right time for Washington.

Through the 2024 season, McLaurin has made $56.4 million over six years in the NFL, according to Spotrac. With this new contract, McLaurin should significantly add to that number before he hits free agency again.

McLaurin has been a very consistent player for the Commanders, producing five-straight seasons with at least 77 catches and 1,000 yards receiving. He also hasn't missed a game since 2020 and has only missed three games in his NFL career thus far.
