Jayden Daniels injury update

Early in the second half against the Cowboys while down 12 points, Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels was strip-sacked by linebacker Shemar James. Daniels appeared to injure his right leg on the play as James tackled him awkwardly.

Daniels walked off the field with a noticeable limp, as he needed help from the medical staff to get to the sidelines. The Commanders officially announced that the quarterback has a right hamstring injury.

As the Commanders defense took the field, Daniels headed to the medical tent for further evaluation. Washington declared initially him questionable to return with the hamstring injury, but later ruled him out for the game as Marcus Mariota came in for relief.

The full extent of Daniels’ latest setback has yet to be revealed. However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a Week 8 start against the Kansas City Chiefs is unlikely.

Daniels underwent an MRI on Monday, per head coach Dan Quinn. Initial scans suggest he won’t miss too much time. However, his status for Monday’s night’s game against Kansas City won’t be revealed until later in the week.
