The Tennessee Titans' head coaching search is over after the franchise signed Robert Saleh to take over the franchise.

Having been a head coach with the New York Jets, Saleh had the defense playing at an elite level, but didn't have the offense.

He was San Francisco's defensive coordinator this past year, and with a host of injuries, still had the unit playing good football.

Now he takes his talents to Tennessee, and Titans All-Pro defensive tackle, Jeffrey Simmons, who was a guest on The Schultz Report with Jordan Schultz, is happy with the hire.

"I was pretty pumped, I'm laying in bed and I get a facetime call, and it said Mike Borgonzi," Simmons said. "He's like meet your new head coach, I'm sitting here with your new head coach."

Titans begin climb with Saleh

We've seen what Saleh can do as a head coach, and while he was ultimately fired in New York, he did do some good things with the franchise, winning seven games in back-to-back seasons.

Then his work with the 49ers this season, so there's every chance the Titans' defense improved under Saleh's watch.

And also, with Cam Ward on the other side of the ball, there's reason enough to think that the arrow might finally begin to trend upward for the Titans.

Of course, this is all speculation, but Simmons is giddy with the appointment of Saleh, and we imagine the rest of the locker room is too.
