The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' offense has been hit by injuries to the offensive line and the receiver room, with Jalen McMillan and Mike Evans on the sidelines, and we thought that, as Week 4 approaches, some relief might be on the way.
Pro Bowl receiver Chris Godwin, who was making his way back from a nasty ankle injury that ended his year early last season, practiced on Wednesday, leading many to think that No. 14 might be ready to go for Sunday at Raymond James Stadium as the Philadelphia Eagles come to town.
But if you thought Godwin was a certainty to play in his first game of the season, well, not so fast.
The Buccaneers dropped their injury report on Thursday, and Godwin was a DNP, just a day after practicing. That's a beard-scratcher.

Godwin's status in doubt vs. Eagles?
That might seem like the case here, but it is worth remembering that Godwin hadn't practiced for what felt like forever, so it might have always been the plan for Tampa Bay to have his rest and recover the day after.
Granted, there will be those who think he might have had a setback, given he wasn't even on the field in a limited capacity; he straight-up wasn't out there.
Tampa was always going to play the slow approach with its star receiver, given he has been out for so long. Either way, Godwin's return appears near, and it is just a matter of when. Will it be this week or next?
We won't have to wait too long to find out.
