Why Baker Mayfield has zero concerns over Bucs culture amid losing streak image

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers aren't in the best of spots right now, especially after letting a 14-point lead slip in the fourth quarter against the Atlanta Falcons that condemned them to an embarrassing loss.

It now marks just one win in the last six games for Todd Bowles' team, as they struggle to keep their heads above water with only three games left in the regular season.

At a time like this, in the middle of a horror run of form, it can be easy, especially after the events on Thursday night, for one side of the ball to get annoyed at the other for not doing their job and vice versa.

But how do the Buccaneers stop that from happening with such a critical part of the season still to come? Baker Mayfield isn't worried.

"The finger-pointing is only happening if you have bad culture in the building, so that's not a problem we have to deal with," Mayfield said. "We met on Monday with the offense, and I told them it's on me, it's on this group.

"I expect us to be able to score more than 28 in a situation like that and put the game out of reach. So, you just nip it in the bud in the beginning."

Buccaneers face huge Week 16 showdown

You could make a case that the NFC South could come down to Sunday's game on the road against the Carolina Panthers.

With both at 7-7 and three games left, two of which are against each other, if the Buccaneers lose, it would give the Panthers the ascendancy. Dave Canales' team could then win the next game, making it challenging for Tampa Bay to overtake them.

Conversely, if the Buccaneers get a vital road win, that would set up Bowles' team to once again be division champs. So, there is a lot riding on the outcome of this Week 16 game.

With the embarrassment from Thursday night still burning, expect the Buccaneers to come out breathing fire on Sunday as they look to make a statement that they are still the top dogs in the NFC South.
