Last time Steelers won a playoff game: Revisiting Pittsburgh’s 2017 divisional win over Chiefs image

It's been almost a decade since the Pittsburgh Steelers have won a playoff game.

With Monday night's wild-card loss to the Houston Texans, the Steelers have now lost seven-straight playoff games dating back to the 2016 season. Pittsburgh's most recent win in the postseason came against a Kansas City Chiefs team that still hadn't drafted Patrick Mahomes.

At the time, the Steelers were in the middle of a playoff run, believing they had a chance to return to the Super Bowl. Little did they know that it would be the start of the longest playoff losing streak in franchise history.

Here's a look back at the last time the Steelers won in the postseason.

The last time Steelers won a playoff game

The Steelers haven't won a playoff game since the 2016 season, when they won two to make the AFC championship game. Their last win specifically was a road win against the Chiefs, a low-scoring affair that became known for Pittsburgh's inability to score.

As the Steelers won the game 18-16, they did it on the back of six Chris Boswell field goals. Led by the trio of Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown and Le'Veon Bell, Pittsburgh's offense consistently moved the ball into field goal range but didn't score a touchdown.

Pittsburgh had 389 yards of total offense and outplayed the Chiefs, even though Kansas City scored two touchdowns. But it was the Steelers defense that essentially won the game, holding the Alex Smith-led Chiefs at bay in their home playoff game.

Boswell's six field goals set a playoff record for most in a single postseason game, a record that still stands.

The Steelers went on to lose to the New England Patriots in the AFC championship game, the start of a playoff losing streak.
