Who do Bills or Jaguars play next? Explaining potential opponents in 2026 NFL playoff bracket image

The Buffalo Bills traveling to take on the Jacksonville Jaguars is one of the more enticing matchups for wild-card weekend.

The Jaguars, to many's surprise, were in contention for the No. 1 seed in Week 18. However, because the Denver Broncos and New England Patriots won their games, the Jags stayed put at No. 3.

This is not to say that Jacksonville cannot win this game, but this might have been one of the worst times to face a No. 6 seed in the postseason.

On the other side of the ball, it's Josh Allen, the former MVP, who knows there are no Kansas City Chiefs in his way of the illustrious Super Bowl title.

Here's a look at the potential opponents for the Bills or the Jags after their matchup in the playoffs.

NFL playoff bracket 2026

Who do the Jaguars play next?

With their outstanding season, Jacksonville is locked in the No. 3 seed in the AFC. If they win, there are plenty of potential opponents the Jags could face in the divisional round.

No. 2 New England Patriots

If the Patriots take care of business against the Los Angeles Chargers, the Jaguars will automatically face New England. This is because the Broncos get to play the lowest remaining seed in the divisional round.

No. 4 Pittsburgh Steelers

If the Steelers can defeat the Houston Texans on Monday night, the only way that the Jaguars could face them is if the Chargers upset the Patriots Sunday night.

No. 5 Houston Texans

The Texans' path is the same as the Steelers. The only way Jacksonville matches up with their AFC South foe is if the Chargers beat New England.

Who do the Bills play next?

This season was certainly not a failure; that remains to be determined in these playoffs; however, the Bills were lackluster by their standards. There were games left on the table, plays that could've been made, but regardless, the Bills are in, and there is not a team in the AFC that doesn't fear them. Here's who Buffalo could play if they win over the Jaguars.

No. 1 Denver Broncos

If the Patriots win against the Chargers, the Bills would be set to face the Broncos in Denver. Despite Buffalo offering more of a challenge than a team like the Steelers, the Bills would be the lowest seed remaining.

No. 4 Pittsburgh Steelers

If the Steelers can defeat the Houston Texans on Monday night, the only way the Bills would face them would be if the Chargers upset the Patriots.

No. 5 Houston Texans

The Texans' chances of playing the Bills are the same as the Steelers. The only way Buffalo matches up with Houston is if the Chargers take down New England.
