When the New York Giants were down to their third-string quarterback in 2023, the fill-in was a sub above the rest.
Tommy DeVito took the league by storm for a few short weeks, thanks in part to his nickname — Tommy Cutlets — and his unique backstory.
When most people hear the name, "DeVito," however, they're still not yet likely to think of Tommy. They'd be more likely to think of the actor appearing in Jersey Mike's commercials during NFL games and one of the stars of the hit FX show, "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," veteran actor Danny DeVito.
Is there any relation between the NFL quarterback and the New Jersey actor? Here's what you need to know.

"Everything that I need is there at the house," DeVito said in 2023, per ESPN. "The decision was made since this level of football is stressful for a rookie, especially from the quarterback position. There is a lot going on, a lot of meetings. So everything outside of football is handled by my family.
"I don't have to worry about laundry, what I'm eating for dinner, chicken cutlets and all that is waiting for me when I get there. My mom still makes my bed. Everything is handled for me. Honestly, I don't even know if I could find a place closer to here than where I live. It takes me 12 minutes to get here."
DeVito was released prior to the 2025 season and joined the New England Patriots as their third-string quarterback, so his living arrangements had to change at least temporarily.
