After an All-Pro selection and three Super Bowl wins as a player, Mike Vrabel has turned out to be an even better head coach in the NFL.

The former linebacker rose through the coaching ranks rather quickly, going from Houston Texans linebackers coach in 2014 to head coach of the Tennessee Titans by 2018. With his established brand of hard-nosed football on both sides of the ball, Vrabel’s teams have reflected the same tenacity he displayed as a player.

Those philosophies have also led Vrabel to plenty of success as a coach, even as he recently turned 50 years old. He’s led multiple teams to the playoffs, including a 2025 postseason appearance with the New England Patriots.

Here’s a look at Vrabel’s playoff record and history.

As a head coach, Mike Vrabel has been on the sideline for five NFL playoff games — all during his stint with the Titans. He's won two of them, and those victories both came in the same season.

In his six years as Tennessee's head coach, Vrabel led the Titans to the playoffs three times. However, he was fired after the 2023 season; Tennessee had a 6-11 record after going 7-10 the year prior.

In his first year with the Patriots in 2025, New England went 14-3 in the regular season, winning the AFC West and making the playoffs.

Both of Vrabel's playoff wins as a coach came after the 2019 regular season, when the Titans made a run to the AFC Championship Game, but lost to Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs.

To get there, Tennessee took down Tom Brady in his final game as a New England Patriot, then beat the Ravens in the divisional round.

Since 2019, Vrabel hasn't guided a team to a playoff win. His Titans teams made the playoffs in 2020 and 2021, but lost their first game on both occasions.
