Max Brosmer stats: Undrafted QB makes history with infamously low passing yards in Vikings win image

The Minnesota Vikings victory over the Detroit Lions on Christmas Day, a 23-10 win that secured their season sweep of the division rival and eliminated the Lions from playoff contention, was achieved behind a historically inept performance from the passing game.

Quarterback Max Brosmer, an undrafted rookie pressed into his second career start, engineered a winning effort with a lackluster offensive stat line. By the time the final whistle blew at U.S. Bank Stadium, the Vikings had accrued only three net passing yards, setting a new franchise record for the fewest net passing yards in a win and representing the lowest total by any victorious NFL team in over four decades.

The bizarre box score saw Brosmer total a meager 51 yards, and an abysmal performance by the offensive line allowed him to be sacked seven times. Though, with the victory, Brosmer became the only quarterback in the Super Bowl era to play the entire game and win while finishing with under 70 passing yards and taking seven or more sacks.

This record-breaking feat underscores that the win was purely a defensive masterclass, as the Vikings' unit forced six Detroit turnovers -- three fumble recoveries and three interceptions -- leading directly to 16 of Minnesota's 23 points.

Here's more on Brosmer's historic day.
