Lamar Jackson pushes fan video: Ravens QB explains why he shoved Bills fan after DeAndre Hopkins touchdown image

Lamar Jackson began his 2025 season in strong fashion on Sunday night despite a stunning loss.

The Ravens quarterback led his offense to 34 points over three quarters against the Bills, as two of the AFC's heavyweights went head-to-head in a primetime Week 1 matchup. However, outside of his on-the-field performance Jackson also went viral for another reason.

After throwing a touchdown pass to DeAndre Hopkins, Jackson was seen shoving a Bills fan in the stands who had hit his hand on Hopkins' helmet.

Here’s a look at what exactly went down after Hopkins’ touchdown, with Jackson shoving a fan wearing a red Bills jersey:

The moment went under the radar, overshadowed by a spectacular Hopkins catch, but it caught the attention of some fans with keen eyes before the Bills’ furious comeback took the game by storm.

Here’s what you need to know about the shove and its potential ramifications.

Baltimore's offense was off to a blazing hot start in Week 1 of the 2025 season. When Jackson tossed a 29-yard touchdown pass to his Hopkins in the third quarter, it gave his squad a 34-19 lead over one of the league's best teams.

While Hopkins' catch was incredible, and Jackson's spectacular night continued, it was what followed in the celebrations that caught some fans' attention.

On NBC's "Sunday Night Football" cameras, it appeared that a Bills fan in the front row of Highmark Stadium extended his arm into Hopkins' helmet, hitting the receiver. Immediately after, Jackson approached the fan, who was wearing a red jersey, and fully extended his arms as he shoved him away.

Jackson was not penalized for the interaction at the time, although it's unclear whether it was caught by any officials because the quarterback was so far from the playing field.

Here's another quick video from the moment where Jackson pushed the Bills fan:

Jackson was asked about the incident postgame, following Baltimore's 41-40 loss to Buffalo.

"I seen him slap D-Hop. ... And then he slapped me," Jackson said the fan, per CBS Sports. "He's talking, so I just forgot where I was for a little bit. You got to think in those situations, we got security out there, let security handle it. I let my emotion get the best of me. Hopefully it won't happen again. I'll learn from that."

On Monday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the fan was indefinitely banned from all NFL stadiums; he was ejected from Highmark Stadium after the incident on Sunday.

Will Lamar Jackson be suspended?

The NFL, or the Ravens, have yet to release a statement on Jackson visibly shoving a fan on Sunday night, so it's not yet clear whether he could face a punishment as severe as a suspension.

NFL players are prohibited from making physical contact with fans, but fans are also prohibited from doing the same with players, so the fan who hit Hopkins in the helmet was in violation of the rules first. While Jackson's retaliation could result in some kind of punishment, a suspension would likely be too severe given the nature of it.
