JUMP TO:

Ja'Marr Chase took the NFL by storm, wasting little time before having a big impact. The Louisiana product played with Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow at LSU, finishing the 2019 season with 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns together.

Chase then sat out the 2020 season, which was impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. He focused on preparing for the NFL Draft, and Cincinnati reunited him with his college quarterback, who was selected with the No. 5 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Chase won Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2021 and then became the fifth player in the Super Bowl era to win the receiving triple crown, after leading the NFL in receptions, receiving yards and receiving touchdowns.

We got to see a glimpse of Chase's personal life when the Bengals were involved in the 2024 in-season version of HBO's "Hard Knocks," which followed the AFC North. Here is more on Chase's family, including his son, parents and more.

Ja'Marr Chase son: Ja'Marr Chase Jr.

Chase Jr. was born on Jan. 16, 2023. While Chase Sr. was living in Ohio and Chase Jr.'s mother was from Texas, he was born in California. The NFL wide receiver and the mother are not together as she filed for full custody in Los Angeles County in August 2023. She wanted Chase to "pay 100 percent of all expenses related to the said minor child’s health care, including medical, dental, vision and mental health," including any "expenses not covered by (his) health insurance," per Yahoo

The mother also wants money for expenses. She says that she spends $57,400 a month in expenses. "First, she claims that $15,000 is necessary for rent or a mortgage for housing. Second, she says her bills for "Entertainment, Gifts and Vacations" is $5,000 a month," per Yahoo. She also wants Chase to buy her a car. Not just any car, though. She specifies that she wants a Range Rover, G Wagon or Tesla.

Chase's defense claims that this was premeditated and that she purposefully went to stay in California to have his son, because the state's child support laws often result in more favorable rulings for the mother. To this, Chase said, "We have one minor child together, Ja’Marr Amir Chase (“Ja’Marr Jr.”). Neither (she) nor I have ever lived in California. She has lived in Texas for her entire life. Despite this, (she) went to California on a temporary basis and stayed with her brother prior to giving birth to Ja’Marr Jr."

Chase also added about the situation, "When (she) was pregnant, I set up an Amazon wish list of items for her and Ja’Marr Jr. including a crib, changing table, car seat, high chairs, diapers and several other baby-related items. Each of these items was to be delivered to her residence in Texas. I also fully furnished the apartment for her."

Details of how much he gets to see his son are not readily available. But he has brought him to training camp and sporting events in the past. Chase was accused of being a deadbeat dad before the custody battle, but outside of disagreeing with the amount of child support he should pay, all signs point to his being a good father. Whether it be directly with his son at events, or when he talks about the impact that volunteering with the Girls and Boys Club has on him. After volunteering there over the 2024 holidays, he said, "It helps me be a better person. A better human being. A better father."

Ja'Marr Chase sisters

Chase stole his sister's car when he was 11 or 12 years old. He just drove around the neighborhood. In his words, "I had gas on my chest as they say." Chase's parents said they enrolled him in football at a young age because of his boundless energy. It sounds like that energy caused him to act on some intrusive thoughts, but nobody was harmed in the process.

Chase has two sisters, Taylor and Mia. He never specifies which of his sister's cars he stole. Not much is known about his sister's other than Taylor was interviewed after Ja'Marr was drafted. Mia was there but didn't say much. Both of them were recipients of the $15,000 gift from Ja'Marr when he signed his rookie deal.
