Week 3 of the NFL season is here for the AFC South. You have some players who are rising to the top and others waiting to break out. Let’s see who stays on the bench and who plays like a champ in the AFC South!
Nico Collins, WR, Houston Texans- Play
Nico got going a little more last week, and the Texans are taking on a team that has had players running wide open in their secondary throughout the season, in the Tennessee Titans. The question about his production is less about him and more about the offensive line. If they are able to hold up, Stroud will find Collins when open. Add to that the media talk from L’Jarius Sneed, which could be perceived as a slight towards Collins, and that could add extra energy for Collins in this battle. Play Nico.
Tony Pollard, RB, Tennessee Titans- Play
The veteran running back has alternated between bad and good games in the first two weeks. Against this Texans run defense, there are yards to be had. The question is, can he find those yards? In this one, I believe he can find those yards against a Texans defense that has given up crucial rushing yards at the wrong times this season. Also, with a change at the play-caller from head coach Brian Callahan to quarterbacks coach Bo Hardegree, it will be interesting to see how many rushing attempts Pollard gets. Either way it goes, Pollard is a play.
Trevor Lawrence, QB, Jacksonville Jaguars- Stay
Lawrence made some solid plays last week versus the Houston Texans and made some other throws that left you scratching your head. This week, the Jags face the 49ers and that defense has not been gracious to every quarterback it has faced. I foresee a game where Lawrence makes some good plays and makes some that leave you puzzled again. Leave him on the bench.
Bhayshul Tuten, RB, Jacksonville Jaguars- Stay
Tuten has gotten more opportunities each week. It is clear they want to get the ball in his hands, but against the 49ers, will there be many opportunities for him to make plays? Leaning towards no with this one, as the 49ers defense may be going back to basics. Keep him on the sidelines.
Michael Pittman Jr., WR, Indianapolis Colts-Play
The Colts' offense is putting up impressive numbers, and they have a wealth of weapons at their disposal. But in this game against the Rams, Pittman and the wide receivers have the advantage. It’s just a matter of who makes the plays for the Colts. And Pittman Jr. could very well be that guy. Put him out there on the field and let him do what he does.
Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts- Play
The leading rusher in the NFL is coming off another big day in Nashville last week, which saw him have over 100 yards rushing and three touchdowns. This week, he has the Los Angeles Rams defense, which can be very tough. But again, this is the Colts' offense, and their offensive line has been performing well to start the season. With that being said, play Taylor. He’s going to find his way into the endzone or into yardage in this game.
