- Where is Amon-Ra St. Brown from?
Right from his rookie season with the Lions, Amon-Ra St. Brown has solidified himself as one of the NFL's best wideouts.
As one of the most productive receivers in the league for years, St. Brown has made quite a few teams regret passing on him in the 2021 NFL Draft. A former fourth-round pick out of USC, St. Brown has translated his elite Trojans career to the next level seamlessly.
However, St. Brown isn't the only athlete in his family. Not only will football fans recognize one of his brothers as a fellow NFL receiver, but his dad is a former bodybuilder who helped shape his sons' athletic careers.
Here's a full breakdown of St. Brown's family.

Amon-Ra St. Brown dad: John Brown
Amon-Ra St. Brown's dad is John Brown, a former bodybuilder.
John Brown is from Compton, California, and he played football at Compton Dominguez High School. He would often travel for bodybuilding competitions, and that's how he met his wife, Miriam, who is from Germany.
John and Miriam met and got married in Leverkusen, Germany, later settling in California.
John, who grew up with a more basic name, also played a role in choosing his children's fairly unique names. "Amun-Ra" is the Egyptian deity of the sun, the inspiration for Amon-Ra's name.
“My name was very mundane,” he told Yahoo Sports in 2022. “I didn’t want that for them.”
That included adding the "St." in the last name "Brown," saying on the Netflix documentary "Receiver" that he told his wife that "we gotta think about this last name."
"Brown don't look good on a jersey, too many of those guys," he said. "So I picked St. Brown because I know it's gonna stand out now."

Professional bodybuilding
John Brown is a former bodybuilder who won two Mr. Universe titles, 1981 and 1982, in the NAABA Federation. He was also champion of Mr. World on three occasions.
“I had a problem with football because we kept losing every game (at Compton Dominguez High School),” Brown told the Los Angeles Sentinel in 2013. “I would prepare myself by lifting weights to be a better football player. One day somebody saw me in the park with my shirt off and was asking questions about what sport I was in. I told him football, and he told me that I should be in body building, and not football because of my physique.
I looked into it and felt that it would be better for me to be in an individual sport instead of a team sport because I did not feel comfortable with 10 other guys having my fate in their hands.”
With his passion for bodybuilding, John introduced his sons to weightlifting when they were old enough.
“Other people thought I was crazy,” John told Yahoo Sports of his sons taking on weight lifting in 2022. “Some guy in the 1920s said that lifting weights early stunts your growth and everyone believed him."
Between John and his sons lifting weights, he chose to create a protein supplement for his family to use. However, he wound up selling "Cane Protein" and now, Amon-Ra and Equanimeous are part of the marketing.

Amon-Ra St. Brown mom: Miriam St. Brown
Amon-Ra St. Brown's mom is Miriam St. Brown. She is from Germany, as she met John while he was traveling to the country for a bodybuilding competition in 1987 and later moved to California with him.
With Miriam being from Germany, she wanted her sons to speak multiple languages.
“It was never a question to me when I came here that my children should speak different languages,” Miriam told Rivals in 2015.
While they learned English from John and others, the St. Brown brothers also learned German from their mother, who also enrolled her sons in a French academy in Los Angeles when they were old enough for elementary school. She also took them to Paris for a semester at a French school.
“I didn't really care,” Amon-Ra told Rivals in 2015 on leaving California for France. “I didn't have many friends at the time so I just went along with it.”

Amon-Ra St. Brown brother: Osiris St. Brown
Amon-Ra St. Brown's other older brother is Osiris St. Brown, who also had a standout college football career. Osiris played at Stanford from 2017-20. He chose to go to Stanford over Notre Dame, where Equanimeous was still playing at the time, telling Bleacher Report in 2016 that it was "one of the toughest decisions I've had to make."
“Both schools are so great academically, so it was hard to choose. It just came down to how I felt, what I wanted to study and which school had the better program to me," Osiris said. "My brother understands I wanted to make my own decision. He respected that. He told me to go to the school that best fit me. I guess you could say I'm creating my own path.”
Osiris St. Brown spent three seasons at Stanford, appearing in 25 games and logging 474 receiving yards and one touchdown.
In 2018, Osiris' Stanford squad and Amon-Ra's USC squad faced off.
Osiris graduated from Stanford in 2021, and when he's not supporting his brothers' football journeys, he is a financial advisor at RBC Wealth Management, per his LinkedIn.
In 2017, John Brown spoke about the talents of his three sons and how they're all different.
“People always ask, ‘Who the best is out of all of them?’ I go, ‘It depends on the situation,’” their father, John Brown, told Sports Illustrated. “Equanimeous is like good soul music. Osiris is like good jazz, smooth jazz. Amon-Ra is good rap.”
