The San Francisco 49ers kept their championship aspirations alive with a hard-fought victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, but the win came at a staggering cost to their offensive identity.
While the 23-19 score reflected postseason advancement, All-Pro tight end George Kittle exiting the field with an Achilles injury cast a somber shadow over the celebration. Kittle, the emotional and physical heartbeat of the Niners, now faces an uphill battle to return next season, leaving a massive void in a lineup that has long relied on his versatility to dominate opponents in the trenches.
The injury to Kittle is just the tip of the iceberg for a San Francisco roster that appears increasingly fragile at the most critical juncture of the season. Several key starters on both sides of the ball have dealt with injuries, and more emerged from the physical slugfest against Philadelphia noticeably banged up. With a rested and explosive Seattle Seahawks squad up next in the Divisional Round, the 49ers’ medical staff is working around the clock to determine who will be healthy enough for the trip to the Pacific Northwest.
Here’s the latest on the status of the 49ers’ stars for the divisional game against the Seahawks.

49ers injury updates
George Kittle, TE, Achilles
Kittle will not be available for San Francisco not only for the trip to Seattle, but for the forseeable future after suffering a ruptured achilles against the Eagles. This not only puts the tight end out for the rest of the postseason, but most likely a portion of the 2026 regular season as well.

At 32-years-old, Kittle now faces a steep recovery to get back on the field, let alone at full strength. This comes after he missed games in the regular season with groin, rib and hamstring injuries.

Fred Warner, RB, Ankle
Though he has worked his way back from a broken and dislocated ankle, Warner will not be available on Saturday for the 49ers.
The superstar linebacker and heartbeat of the 49ers defense missed the rest of the regular season after the injury in Week 6 against the Buccaneers. Warner is back practicing with the team, but coach Kyle Shanahan said that he won't be activated off the injured reserve before the game against the Seahawks.
49ers LB Fred Warner will not be activated off injured reserve ahead of Saturday’s game in Seattle for the divisional round, per HC Kyle Shanahan.

Trent Williams, OT, Hamstring
The 49ers' star left tackle is dealing with a hamstring injury that also had him questionable for the Wild Card game against the Eagles. Though, Williams played in that game and had a significant impact.
Ahead of the game in Seattle, Williams was a full participant in both Wednesday and Thursday's practice, putting him on track to play.

Ricky Pearsall, WR, Knee
Pearsall, San Francisco's promising second-year wideout, missed the win against the Eagles, and his status is still questionable for the Divisional Round. Though, he is trending towards playing.
The wide receiver has been a limited participant throughout the week, but when speaking with reporters said he's pretty confident he will play.
#49ers WR Ricky Pearsall says his injury won’t fully heal until he gets real rest and is shut down after the season, adding that explosive movements are the hardest part to deal with.
