They say the most important position on a roster is the backup quarterback spot, and for the New York Jets, it is Tyrod Taylor's time with Justin Fields being ruled out of the Week 3 game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With Taylor having a wealth of experience in the NFL as both a starter and backup, there is some confidence in the veteran being able to operate Tanner Engstrand's offense well enough for New York to be competitive in Tampa.
As for Aaron Glenn's thoughts on Taylor, to say he's confident in him is an understatement.
"There's no better player that you'd want as your backup quarterback than him at this point in time," Glenn said.

Taylor thrown into the fire vs. Buccaneers
It could be seen as an impossible task for the Jets to win on the road, but one thing we know in the NFL is that surprises happen all the time.
The Buccaneers are playing in their home opener, are 2-0 and feeling good, while the Jets are 0-2, are coming off a blowout loss, and are now without their starting quarterback.
So, things aren't exactly stacked in New York's favor, but that won't worry Glenn.
The Jets' rebuild will take time, and there will be ups and downs, and we get the sense that while New York could find things tough against the Buccaneers, Glenn feels that with Taylor under center, his team has a fighter's chance at causing a huge upset.
Even if there aren't too many people who genuinely believe it could happen.
