The NFL is a brutal business, and the New York Jets handed back all the good faith they collected in Week 1 after a 30-10 beatdown at the hands of the Buffalo Bills.
It was a horror performance from Aaron Glenn's team, and it is a stark reminder of exactly where this franchise is in terms of its rebuild.
Yes, Week 1 was positive, but Week 2? Not so much as the Jets posted just 154 total yards, Justin Fields was 3 of 11 for 27 yards until he was forced to leave the game in the fourth quarter with a concussion, and the offense didn't have a third down conversion all game.
Due to all of that, CBS Sports' Cody Benjamin has given New York a brutal D- grade.
"Talk about an undoing of any promise the new Jets regime showed in a Week 1 shootout with the Steelers," Benjamin wrote. "Justin Fields galloped for a team-high 49 yards, but that was about all New York could do with the ball in its hands, and even Fields couldn't stay on the field, exiting due to a concussion evaluation. Besides Garrett Wilson, not a single player managed even 10 receiving yards in an absolute stinker for their passing game."

Bills loss proves long way to go for Glenn's Jets
Entering the 2025 season, we knew that the Jets weren't going to be a playoff team or one that could win nine or 10 games, simply because the roster wasn't deemed very good.
After the positive Week 1 performance, perhaps some thought that New York might be a little better than they expected under Glenn. But the Week 2 performance perhaps showed us what to expect from the Jets this season - inconsistency.
Granted, they did play perhaps the best team in football, too, so that has to factor in, but a D- grade seems to fit.
Glenn stated he would turn over every stone in an attempt to get better, and we watch with anticipation to see the improvement in Week 3.
