Drew Brees is making a subtle return to broadcasting.
The former New Orleans Saints quarterback, who spent a year with NBC on Football Night in America and called multiple Notre Dame and NFL games, is set to appear as a guest analyst on Fox's Week 3 NFL coverage.
Brees will be on "Fox NFL Kickoff” and “Fox NFL Sunday" for Week 3, according to Sports Business Journal.

Why is Drew Brees on Fox?
Fox Sports agreed to bring Brees on as a guest analyst for "Fox NFL Kickoff” and “Fox NFL Sunday" in Week 3, according to SBJ. However, the former quarterback's role is expected to be for that week of action alone, with no plans of keeping Brees around for the rest of the season.
Per SPJ, Brees will technically be filling in for Julian Edelman on Fox's coverage as the former New England Patriots receiver is inducted into the team's Hall of Fame in Week 3. The Patriots are hosting an induction ceremony for Edelman and Bill Parcells on Saturday, Sept. 20.
So, that puts Brees in-place to step in as an analyst alongside Charissa Thompson, Charles Woodson and Jay Glazer on "Fox NFL Kickoff," then the "Fox NFL Sunday" crew as well.

Does Drew Brees work for Fox?
Brees does not technically work for Fox full-time, as his Week 3 role is expected to be temporary.
However, Brees has a background in broadcasting. He did NFL studio work for NBC’s Football Night in America following his retirement before leaving the network prior to the 2022 season. Brees also stepped into the booth to cover Notre Dame and NFL games with NBC.
Another reported upcoming broadcast appearance for Brees is for the NFL Christmas games. According to NBC Sports, Brees was tabbed as an in-game analyst alongside Noah Eagle for Netflix's Lions-Vikings game on Christmas Day 2025.
When did Drew Brees retire?
Brees announced his retirement on March 14, 2021. He had spent 20 years in the NFL, including 15 with the Saints.
Following a 2020 season in which he threw for 2,942 yards, 24 touchdowns and six interceptions over 12 games, Brees called it a career, making his announcement with his kids in an Instagram post.
"After 20 years as a player in the NFL and 15 years as a Saint, it is time I retire from the game of football. Each day, I poured my heart & soul into being your Quarterback. Til the very end, I exhausted myself to give everything I had to the Saints organization, my team, and the great city of New Orleans," Brees wrote. "We shared some amazing moments together, many of which are emblazoned in our hearts and minds and will forever be a part of us.
"You have molded me, strengthened me, inspired me, and given me a lifetime of memories. My goal for the last 15 years was striving to give to you everything you had given to me and more.
I am only retiring from playing football, I am not retiring from New Orleans. This is not goodbye, rather a new beginning. Now my real life‘s work begins!"
