Drake Maye injury update: Patriots' Mike Vrabel addresses QB concerns image

The New England Patriots are Super Bowl-bound, but some thought Mike Vrabel's team didn't escape Empower Stadium without injury.

There were reports on social media that quarterback Drake Maye, with David J. Chao, a former NFL team doctor, posted on X that Maye had injured his right shoulder in Denver.

This, of course, piqued fans' interest because, well, Drake is set to play in the Super Bowl in two weeks.

But head coach Mike Vrabel, when asked about Maye's shoulder, eased fans' fears.

"I wouldn't say anybody hurt anything," Vrabel said. "This is a sport where there's going to be things that come up. We'll talk about whatever status each player has for the game once we're required to."

All eyes on Maye

If Maye did, in fact, hurt his shoulder, the good thing for the Patriots is that he has two weeks to recover.

Of course, we will get a better idea of Maye's status when the Patriots practice this week, and even the following week, if New England opts to rest its young quarterback.

Vrabel kept things close to the vest regarding Maye, and we wouldn't expect anything less. There's no reason for him to announce ahead of the Super Bowl that his quarterback is injured.

So, we will watch Maye intently over the next couple of days to see how he progresses.
