Puka Nacua antisemitism controversy, explained: Why Adin Ross' 'covetous Jew' dance has Rams WR facing criticism image

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, one of the NFL’s leading receivers through Week 15, recently made an appearance on internet personality Adin Ross’ livestream.

During that appearance, Nacua first made headlines for his comments about NFL referees, saying they are “the worst” and suggesting they make calls to get on TV.

However, Nacua also drew criticism for performing a dance alongside Ross that included an antisemitic trope, then saying he would do the dance during a Rams game if he scored a touchdown.

Here’s what to know about the antisemitism controversy surrounding Puka Nacua.

What did Puka Nacua do?

In his appearance on the live stream, Ross instructed Nacua on a touchdown dance he wanted him to do. After pretending to spin a football and flex, Ross tells Nacua to rub his hands together and look at the camera. Nacua proceeded to do the dance.

The movement Ross instructed Nacua to make has been criticized as an antisemitic trope, as it can be seen as mocking a Jewish person by rubbing their hands together to suggest greed.

Per Awful Announcing, Ross often does the gesture as part of what is referred to as his “Jewish Dance” or “Jewish emote.” Additionally, he has faced platform bans over “hateful conduct” and slurs in the past.

Puka Nacua-Adin Ross live stream

Nacua recently appeared on a live stream with Adin Ross and N3on. He told them that the stream was supposed to take place at Rams facilities, but when the streamers attempted to enter the facility on Tuesday, they were denied entry.

“I thought my team communicated. I guess there was no communication,” Nacua said. “Especially then, when coach found out, he didn’t f--- with that. Just because of the short week. Let me handle business on Thursday, then we should be good.”

The full stream can be found below.

Who is Adin Ross?

Adin Ross is an internet personality and live streamer, on platforms like Kick and Twitch, who streams both him playing video games, and interviews with various celebrities and other influencers. Ross has filmed interviews with names like Donald Trump, Andrew Tate, Mookie Betts and Puka Nacua.

Ross has been banned from Twitch multiple times for "hateful slurs or symbols," including in 2023, when the platform permanently banned him for "hateful conduct." However that ban was lifted in March 2025.

What is 'the covetous jew' dance?

The "covetous jew" dance is a gesture that mimicks an antisemitic trope about Jewish people being greedy. It involves someone rubbing their hands together in a manner intended to represent greed.

What did Puka Nacua say about NFL refs on Adin Ross' stream?

Nacua also drew attention for his comments about NFL officials on the live stream.

"The refs are the worst,” Nacua said. “These guys are lawyers. They want to be on TV, too.... You don’t think he’s texting his friends in the group chat like, ‘Yo, you guys just saw me on “Sunday Night Football.” Like, ‘That wasn’t P.I., like, but I called it.’... I mean, these guys are normal human beings, too.”

When one of the streamers said he could be fined for those comments, Nacua said "a hundred percent."

Will Puka Nacua be fined?

It’s currently unknown whether the NFL or the Rams are considering discipline for Nacua for his comments about officials or for the touchdown dance that was interpreted as antisemitic. However, the league has fined plenty of players in the past for criticizing officials, as well as for players’ actions off the field.
