Will Xavier Worthy's return impact Tyquan Thornton's playing time on Chiefs WR depth chart? image

Reinforcements have arrived for the Kansas City Chiefs' offense ahead of Week 4, with speedy receiver Xavier Worthy a full participant in practice this week as he looks to make his return from a dislocated shoulder suffered in Week 1.

With the offense in dire need of a pick-me-up, it has been Tyquan Thornton who has been the one to give the Chiefs some downfield juice, and against the New York Giants in Kansas City's first win of the season, he hauled in five receptions from his nine targets for 71 yards and a touchdown.

But now that Worthy is looking like he might return, that might mean Tyquan has to take a back seat; however, will he?

Granted, we don't think Thornton will see nine targets, which was easily the most on the Chiefs' offense. Given Worthy's ability to also be used on jet sweeps and even running back-type plays, Thornton's usage will also likely slip.

Alternatively, though, given that this will be Worthy's first game back, the Chiefs might have him on a snap count, so Thornton might still see his usual usage in the passing game as Xavier ramps up after missing a couple of weeks.

Either way, don't expect Thornton to be "the" guy on offense this week.

Xavier Worthy's return perfect timing for Chiefs

With Thornton, Marquise Brown, Travis Kelce, and Juju Smith-Schuster doing just enough in the passing game to help the Chiefs escape MetLife Stadium with a win, now come the Baltimore Ravens.

And the impending return of Worthy comes at the perfect time for a unit that needs to desperately get something positive going.

With Worthy on the field, along with Thornton, the Chiefs now have two genuine home-run threats, and we know that Kansas City has wanted to get the deep ball back in their offensive arsenal. We might see it against Baltimore.

In what is shaping up as potentially a season-defining game, the Chiefs are getting their top weapon back. Will it be enough? Your guess is as good as mine.
